Lelio Balarezo has over 16 years of work experience in due diligence investigations, financial performance management, business intelligence and risk/credit assessment for major multinational companies and banks in the US and Latin America.
Mr. Balarezo has worked in FTI Consulting, where he occupied the positions of Senior Director and Co-Leader of the Panama office, overviewing Central America and the Caribbean. During his tenure in FTI Consulting, he led several financial feasibility engagements, forensic audit reviews, Anti-corruption/FCPA reviews and compliance assessment within the construction, financial service and consumer industry. Representative cases included advising a major Real Estate Investment Fund in Latin American countries on due diligence and compliance issues; due diligence review of a $190MM construction project, FCPA assessment at high risk countries and an economic feasibility study for an oil transportation facility.
Before joining FTI Consulting in April 2013, Mr. Balarezo worked with SABMiller, the world´s second largest brewing company, holding several management positions including PRGM Manager (Profitable Revenue Growth Management), Market Intelligence Manager and Business Process Expert. During his three year tenure, Mr. Balarezo designed and implemented the company´s pricing strategy, focused on volume and revenue growth for each business category (beer, milk, carbonated drinks and juices) and was a key member in the shape of the action segmentation process to determine the company´s beer portfolio strategy and business strategy plan.
In addition, Mr. Balarezo worked with Bayview Lending Group (Silver Hill Financial Division), a major nationwide commercial real estate loan origination and securitization group in the United Estates. Mr. Balarezo was employed as Underwriting Manager, were he was responsible for credit approval and portfolio administration on a monthly $40MM-$50MM worth of commercial loan transactions with a lending signature authority up to $1MM. Mr. Balarezo also worked for other financial institutions including New York Emigrant Funding Bank and Continental National Bank of Miami holding different managerial positions.
Mr. Balarezo has a Masters of Business Administration in Finance from Nova Southeastern University and his Bachelor in Business Administration with a double major in Finance and Marketing from the University of Miami. He is a Peruvian citizen, fluent in English and Spanish.
